About this FactMed analysis covering adverse side effect reports of OXYCODONE HCL patients who developed myopathy.

FactMed provides MD-approved analysis to help both patients, researchers, and physicians accurately assess the risk profile for more than 20,000 different pharmaceutical products. The below report offers compiled information from Food & Drug Administration and FactMed user submissions. Between January 2004 and October 2012, 41 individuals taking OXYCODONE HCL reported myopathy to the FDA. A total of 22191 OXYCODONE HCL drug adverse event reaction reports were made with the FDA during this time period. Often the FDA only receives reports of the most critical and severe cases; these numbers may therefore underrepresent the complication rate of the medication.

FDA Research Report

Introduction This page is designed to help you determine the relationship, if any, between OXYCODONE HCL and myopathy. In doing so, we compare OXYCODONE HCL with other drugs that cause myopathy, to help you evaluate whether or not OXYCODONE HCL causes myopathy. Likewise, this page shows the most highly-reported side effects of OXYCODONE HCL, so you can see if myopathy ranks among OXYCODONE HCL's most well-known side effects.
Summary Statistics
Reports of OXYCODONE HCL causing myopathy: 41
Reports of any side effect of OXYCODONE HCL : 22191
Percentage of OXYCODONE HCL patients where myopathy is a reported side effect: 0.1848%

FDA reports of any drug causing myopathy : 3605
Average percentage for all medicated patients where myopathy is reported as a complication: 0.0226%

QUESTION
PROTEINURIA
I take 120mg oxynorm per day for a chronic pain issue relating to a spinal fusion. I am under the care of a pain management clinic and specialist but I have recently developed proteinuria. It is only on the lesser side on the dip test and has only become an issue over the past couple of days. Is the proteinuria a result of long term exposure to opoids, mainly pethidine (in hospital) and oxynorm on a regular basis. I might add I have recently had pyelonephritis for which my urologist has washed out the kidney and completed bloods and a ultrasound which were all fine. Should I be concerned or will this resolve as the inflammation in the kidney subsides? 2015-08-29 22:47:35

My husband had the whipple surgery 5 years ago to remove a cancerous tumor from his pancreas. After the surgery he took oxicodone for pain, and continues to use it. Three months after his surgery he went through three rounds of traditional chemotherapy for a 'safeguard'. Ten months after his surgery scans showed lesions in his liver. Medical people labeled these lesions 'cancerous' without even doing a biopsy. I don't think he has cancerous lesions in his liver. What do you think? 2016-01-21 22:13:53
