About this FactMed analysis covering adverse side effect reports of PERCOCET patients who developed myopathy.

FactMed provides MD-approved analysis to help both patients, researchers, and physicians accurately assess the risk profile for more than 20,000 different pharmaceutical products. The below report offers compiled information from Food & Drug Administration and FactMed user submissions. Between January 2004 and October 2012, 44 individuals taking PERCOCET reported myopathy to the FDA. A total of 19537 PERCOCET drug adverse event reaction reports were made with the FDA during this time period. Often the FDA only receives reports of the most critical and severe cases; these numbers may therefore underrepresent the complication rate of the medication.

FDA Research Report

Introduction This page is designed to help you determine the relationship, if any, between PERCOCET and myopathy. In doing so, we compare PERCOCET with other drugs that cause myopathy, to help you evaluate whether or not PERCOCET causes myopathy. Likewise, this page shows the most highly-reported side effects of PERCOCET, so you can see if myopathy ranks among PERCOCET's most well-known side effects.
Summary Statistics
Reports of PERCOCET causing myopathy: 44
Reports of any side effect of PERCOCET : 19537
Percentage of PERCOCET patients where myopathy is a reported side effect: 0.2252%

FDA reports of any drug causing myopathy : 3605
Average percentage for all medicated patients where myopathy is reported as a complication: 0.0226%

URINARY TRACT INFECTION
I am a female, age 55; have had trigeminal neuralgia since 2006; went on oxycodone 5/325 for abt 4 yrs and have taken 10/325 for the remainder; I usually take at least one a day with Xanax to help with pain. I have had three severe urinary tract infections since Jan 1, 2016. All three had blood. Before, I would get them about once a month for no reason at all. These last three are the same. No explanation. However, I see that the pain med could be the cause of all these infections throughout all these years! And the infections are getting worse. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. 2016-02-11 18:41:06

QUESTION
PARANOIA
My aunt had lung cancer approximately 12 years ago and suffered permanent nerve damage as a result of her surgery. She was prescribed Percocet and has been taking it every day, ever since the surgery. She is convinced that people are trying to kill her. She complains about strangers spraying poison in her home and car. She has gone so far as to cover her furnace vents with plastic to prevent the "poison" from getting in her house. She says she smells the poison, but there is no smell. She says she hears them spraying, but there is no sound. She is suffering from severe paranoia, and I suspect it may be from prolonged use of Percocet. She thinks her family is crazy for not believing her, and she will not let us tell her doctor about it. Is this a possible side effect of long term Percocet use? Is so, how can we convince her to discuss this with her doctor, so she can get help. 2016-10-09 22:29:58
