Study of possible correlation between OESOPHAGEAL OBSTRUCTION and ASPIRIN
Accompanying discussion about FactMed users Questions and Concerns
About this FactMed analysis covering adverse side effect reports of ASPIRIN patients who developed OESOPHAGEAL OBSTRUCTION.
FactMed provides MD-approved analysis to help both patients, researchers, and physicians accurately assess the risk profile for more than 20,000 different pharmaceutical products. The below report offers compiled information from Food & Drug Administration and FactMed user submissions. Between January 2004 and October 2012, 33 individuals taking ASPIRIN reported OESOPHAGEAL OBSTRUCTION to the FDA. A total of 201561 ASPIRIN drug adverse event reaction reports were made with the FDA during this time period. Often the FDA only receives reports of the most critical and severe cases; these numbers may therefore underrepresent the complication rate of the medication.FDA Research Report
Introduction This page is designed to help you determine the relationship, if any, between ASPIRIN and OESOPHAGEAL OBSTRUCTION. In doing so, we compare ASPIRIN with other drugs that cause OESOPHAGEAL OBSTRUCTION, to help you evaluate whether or not ASPIRIN causes OESOPHAGEAL OBSTRUCTION. Likewise, this page shows the most highly-reported side effects of ASPIRIN, so you can see if OESOPHAGEAL OBSTRUCTION ranks among ASPIRIN's most well-known side effects.
Summary StatisticsReports of ASPIRIN causing OESOPHAGEAL OBSTRUCTION: 33
Reports of any side effect of ASPIRIN : 201561
Percentage of ASPIRIN patients where OESOPHAGEAL OBSTRUCTION is a reported side effect: 0.0164%
FDA reports of any drug causing OESOPHAGEAL OBSTRUCTION : 305
Average percentage for all medicated patients where OESOPHAGEAL OBSTRUCTION is reported as a complication: 0.0019%

| QUESTION PAIN IN EXTREMITY | I am thrilled to be a SCAD suvrvoir as a 34-year old mother of 3-year old twins and a 4-year old. I suffered SCAD of my LAD on 2/5/12 on the second day of my menstrual cycle. I was hospitalized for 3 days, placed on Metropolol, Plavix and baby aspirin – the hope was that the tear would heal on it’s own. Four hours after my discharge on day 3, I once again experienced what I thought was a heart attack with chest pain, weakness and pain in both upper arms that continued to radiate to my elbows, wrists and then my hands, nausea and, this time, numbness in both feet. This time, the chest pain was so excruciating, I didn’t believe I would live past my ambulance ride and fought for which words I should ask the ENT to give to my husband and family as my last. I survived and four stents were placed in my LAD. I now take Brilinta, Metropolol and baby aspirin. Thank you for all of you who have shared your personal stories, this is all very new to me and it is encouraging to read that this is not, in fact a “fluke,” or as “rare” as I have been told it is. | 2015-07-13 06:01:52 |
