About this FactMed analysis covering adverse side effect reports of HALCION patients who developed ACANTHOLYSIS.

FactMed provides MD-approved analysis to help both patients, researchers, and physicians accurately assess the risk profile for more than 20,000 different pharmaceutical products. The below report offers compiled information from Food & Drug Administration and FactMed user submissions. Between January 2004 and October 2012, 2 individuals taking HALCION reported ACANTHOLYSIS to the FDA. A total of 3807 HALCION drug adverse event reaction reports were made with the FDA during this time period. Often the FDA only receives reports of the most critical and severe cases; these numbers may therefore underrepresent the complication rate of the medication.

FDA Research Report

Introduction This page is designed to help you determine the relationship, if any, between HALCION and ACANTHOLYSIS. In doing so, we compare HALCION with other drugs that cause ACANTHOLYSIS, to help you evaluate whether or not HALCION causes ACANTHOLYSIS. Likewise, this page shows the most highly-reported side effects of HALCION, so you can see if ACANTHOLYSIS ranks among HALCION's most well-known side effects.
Summary Statistics
Reports of HALCION causing ACANTHOLYSIS: 2
Reports of any side effect of HALCION : 3807
Percentage of HALCION patients where ACANTHOLYSIS is a reported side effect: 0.0525%

FDA reports of any drug causing ACANTHOLYSIS : 33
Average percentage for all medicated patients where ACANTHOLYSIS is reported as a complication: 0.0002%

QUESTION
SCHIZOPHRENIA
My 19 year old daughter was given Halcion in January 2016, when she had a wisdom tooth removed. From the very first night, after the procedure, she had very strong fear and anxiety over going to bed at night. This is something she still struggles with. In addition to this, over the past year, she has displayed symptoms of schizophrenia, such as imagining she can communicate to people telepathically, that she sees Russians wherever she goes, that THEY want her for something (possibly a spy-related because of her abilities), and, more recently, that her co-workers are part of a demonic cult, and that she could speak to angels and see demons. We are currently seeking help, and trying to convince her none of this is real. Since her anxiety began at the time of taking Halcion, we, of course, suspect it as a cause or trigger. Knowing this, is there anyone who can suggest a particular treatment for what appears to be schizophrenia. Is there an antidote, or something that can reverse the effects? 2017-06-08 14:10:00
