About this FactMed analysis covering adverse side effect reports of LOMOTIL patients who developed ADHESION.

FactMed provides MD-approved analysis to help both patients, researchers, and physicians accurately assess the risk profile for more than 20,000 different pharmaceutical products. The below report offers compiled information from Food & Drug Administration and FactMed user submissions. Between January 2004 and October 2012, 5 individuals taking LOMOTIL reported ADHESION to the FDA. A total of 4246 LOMOTIL drug adverse event reaction reports were made with the FDA during this time period. Often the FDA only receives reports of the most critical and severe cases; these numbers may therefore underrepresent the complication rate of the medication.

FDA Research Report

Introduction This page is designed to help you determine the relationship, if any, between LOMOTIL and ADHESION. In doing so, we compare LOMOTIL with other drugs that cause ADHESION, to help you evaluate whether or not LOMOTIL causes ADHESION. Likewise, this page shows the most highly-reported side effects of LOMOTIL, so you can see if ADHESION ranks among LOMOTIL's most well-known side effects.
Summary Statistics
Reports of LOMOTIL causing ADHESION: 5
Reports of any side effect of LOMOTIL : 4246
Percentage of LOMOTIL patients where ADHESION is a reported side effect: 0.1178%

FDA reports of any drug causing ADHESION : 955
Average percentage for all medicated patients where ADHESION is reported as a complication: 0.0060%

QUESTION
URINE OUTPUT DECREASED
I have an elevated renin level, probably multifactorial, no renal artery stenosis AND no kidney failure except that I DO rely on diuretics. 60 mg furosemide and 25 mg chlorthalidone daily. Lost my global edema post dc of Amlodopine, losartin and finally NSAIDS. Have Ehler's-Danlos Syndrome and had a big flare up of collagenous Colitis. Took my starting doses of Entocort, then next day started Lomotil per my GI Docs standing orders: take 2 tabs Lomotil 30 min prior to eating. (!!!) It requires this much to semi stop the profound watery stool. Haven't had to do this since the ↑ renin levels. Have put on 7 pounds water weight since starting the Entocort and the Lomotil, despite resuming my diuretics on the 2nd day. Urine looks dilute, not at all yellow. The question is: could it be the Lomotil vs the Entocort? I hate to think it's the Entocort, but need to know if I'm tweaking my kidneys. Can deal with no Lomotil... Imodium trial showed not as effective. Answers anyone? Researching in the professional abstracts gave me no real clear answers. 2017-02-18 02:28:26
