About this FactMed analysis covering adverse side effect reports of MINOCYCLIN patients who developed ACANTHOLYSIS.

FactMed provides MD-approved analysis to help both patients, researchers, and physicians accurately assess the risk profile for more than 20,000 different pharmaceutical products. The below report offers compiled information from Food & Drug Administration and FactMed user submissions. Between January 2004 and October 2012, 2 individuals taking MINOCYCLIN reported ACANTHOLYSIS to the FDA. A total of 29 MINOCYCLIN drug adverse event reaction reports were made with the FDA during this time period. Often the FDA only receives reports of the most critical and severe cases; these numbers may therefore underrepresent the complication rate of the medication.

FDA Research Report

Introduction This page is designed to help you determine the relationship, if any, between MINOCYCLIN and ACANTHOLYSIS. CONCERN
URINARY INCONTINENCE
Urinary incontinence as a side effect of minocycline treatment, as a veterinary concern. Perhaps this will Interest some similarly afflicted human patients. Our 12 year old dog, a border collie mix whose normal behavior is that of a dog half her age, was diagnosed with Lyme nephritis In August, 2015. She had developed kidney failure and severe urinary incontinence as a result of Lyme disease. No notable Lyme symptoms prior to the incontinence. She underwent 8 hours of intraveneous fluid "flushing" and started a 30 day course of minocycline (100 mg twice daily treatment). Her blood numbers improved, but the urinary and even fecal "accidents" continued. It has been 4.5 days since completing the minocycline treatment; not one "accident" in the past 3.5 days. During treatment, "accidents" had occured nearly every time she stood up from lying down, multiple times each day. 2015-09-25 06:45:05

NARCOLEPSY
I wanted to ask if anyone developed narcolepsy and/or hypopigmentation mainly in the neck area? The only medication I remember taking was Minocycline before I started showing symptoms of narcolepsy. I was the same age when I developed the hypopigmentation and having severe exhaustion and sleepiness, from what I know, due to narcolepsy. I have a friend who also was prescribed Minocycline around the same time as myself and has some of the symptoms of narcolepsy. Thank you 2016-07-24 04:39:54
