About this FactMed analysis covering adverse side effect reports of NITROGLYCERIN patients who developed ACANTHOLYSIS.

FactMed provides MD-approved analysis to help both patients, researchers, and physicians accurately assess the risk profile for more than 20,000 different pharmaceutical products. The below report offers compiled information from Food & Drug Administration and FactMed user submissions. Between January 2004 and October 2012, 2 individuals taking NITROGLYCERIN reported ACANTHOLYSIS to the FDA. A total of 17527 NITROGLYCERIN drug adverse event reaction reports were made with the FDA during this time period. Often the FDA only receives reports of the most critical and severe cases; these numbers may therefore underrepresent the complication rate of the medication.

FDA Research Report

Introduction This page is designed to help you determine the relationship, if any, between NITROGLYCERIN and ACANTHOLYSIS. In doing so, we compare NITROGLYCERIN with other drugs that cause ACANTHOLYSIS, to help you evaluate whether or not NITROGLYCERIN causes ACANTHOLYSIS. Likewise, this page shows the most highly-reported side effects of NITROGLYCERIN, so you can see if ACANTHOLYSIS ranks among NITROGLYCERIN's most well-known side effects.
Summary Statistics
Reports of NITROGLYCERIN causing ACANTHOLYSIS: 2
Reports of any side effect of NITROGLYCERIN : 17527
Percentage of NITROGLYCERIN patients where ACANTHOLYSIS is a reported side effect: 0.0114%

FDA reports of any drug causing ACANTHOLYSIS : 33
Average percentage for all medicated patients where ACANTHOLYSIS is reported as a complication: 0.0002%

QUESTION
MUSCLE TWITCHING
I took 2 Nitrostat before calling 911. They arrived in 5-10 min and gave me another nitrostat did an ekg put me in ambulance and gave me another nitrostat ans a IV morphine. Once at hospital was given another IV morphine. Later developed tremors in jaws and mouth and it disappeared and reoccurred. I went for a CT of chest laying with arms above my head and felt like my whole body had tremors/twitching. I was fearful of going into a seizure. My son observed my muscles twitching randomly all over my body. Duration was probably 10 min. Reported to medical staff who did not appear concerned. Had another episode with mouth and jaw then it all subsided. Probably between 10 and 11 pm. I had taken my daily meds at 5 or 6 pm which included Norvasc and aspirin with multiple vitamins, omega 3 and some essential oils. Just wondering if I have morphine and nitro in future if it might go into a seizure. 2016-04-25 12:54:56
