About this FactMed analysis covering adverse side effect reports of PEGASYS patients who developed ADRENALITIS.

FactMed provides MD-approved analysis to help both patients, researchers, and physicians accurately assess the risk profile for more than 20,000 different pharmaceutical products. The below report offers compiled information from Food & Drug Administration and FactMed user submissions. Between January 2004 and October 2012, 3 individuals taking PEGASYS reported ADRENALITIS to the FDA. A total of 19544 PEGASYS drug adverse event reaction reports were made with the FDA during this time period. Often the FDA only receives reports of the most critical and severe cases; these numbers may therefore underrepresent the complication rate of the medication.

FDA Research Report

Introduction This page is designed to help you determine the relationship, if any, between PEGASYS and ADRENALITIS. In doing so, we compare PEGASYS with other drugs that cause ADRENALITIS, to help you evaluate whether or not PEGASYS causes ADRENALITIS. Likewise, this page shows the most highly-reported side effects of PEGASYS, so you can see if ADRENALITIS ranks among PEGASYS's most well-known side effects.
Summary Statistics
Reports of PEGASYS causing ADRENALITIS: 3
Reports of any side effect of PEGASYS : 19544
Percentage of PEGASYS patients where ADRENALITIS is a reported side effect: 0.0153%

FDA reports of any drug causing ADRENALITIS : 27
Average percentage for all medicated patients where ADRENALITIS is reported as a complication: 0.0002%

QUESTION
OSTEONECROSIS
I was on Pegasys and Copegus therapy for one year between 2002-2003 for work related exposure to Hep C. I now have widespread osteonecrosis. So far, I have had five joints replaced (bi-lat knees, bi-lat hips, and r shoulder. I had a left elbow decompression) I have osteonecrosis in my left shoulder, left ankle and toes. I just saw an upper extremity surgeon for my left elbow, and it looks as if that will be replaced soon, too. I had an MRI of my jaw done Monday 6/1/15, and I'm waiting to see if I have osteonecrosis there as well. The replacements began in 2010 when the groin and shoulder pain became too much to bear and I sought medical treatment. I have heard of others with osteonecrosis in multiple joints, but is there anyone else with osteonecrosis as widespread as mine? I cannot seem to get an answer as to why the osteonecrosis has manifested itself in so many areas. I would absolutely appreciate any comments from fellow patients or healthcare professionals. Thank you. 2015-06-03 18:19:11
