About this FactMed analysis covering adverse side effect reports of PLAVIX patients who developed ACANTHOLYSIS.

FactMed provides MD-approved analysis to help both patients, researchers, and physicians accurately assess the risk profile for more than 20,000 different pharmaceutical products. The below report offers compiled information from Food & Drug Administration and FactMed user submissions. Between January 2004 and October 2012, 4 individuals taking PLAVIX reported ACANTHOLYSIS to the FDA. A total of 60331 PLAVIX drug adverse event reaction reports were made with the FDA during this time period. Often the FDA only receives reports of the most critical and severe cases; these numbers may therefore underrepresent the complication rate of the medication.

FDA Research Report

Introduction This page is designed to help you determine the relationship, if any, between PLAVIX and ACANTHOLYSIS. In doing so, we compare PLAVIX with other drugs that cause ACANTHOLYSIS, to help you evaluate whether or not PLAVIX causes ACANTHOLYSIS. Likewise, this page shows the most highly-reported side effects of PLAVIX, so you can see if ACANTHOLYSIS ranks among PLAVIX's most well-known side effects.
Summary Statistics
Reports of PLAVIX causing ACANTHOLYSIS: 4
Reports of any side effect of PLAVIX : 60331
Percentage of PLAVIX patients where ACANTHOLYSIS is a reported side effect: 0.0066%

FDA reports of any drug causing ACANTHOLYSIS : 33
Average percentage for all medicated patients where ACANTHOLYSIS is reported as a complication: 0.0002%

QUESTION
ALVEOLITIS ALLERGIC
5 years on plavix 83 year old after a T.I.A. Developed fatigue, breathing difficulties, hair loss, along with so many other side effects and then after a scan told I had alveolitis. Never on a farm or down a mine or near a poultry farm or any other place to develop 'farmers lung'. I feel very angry that my local doc kept telling me that I had depression!!! My question is who do I sue?. 2015-01-24 08:36:45
QUESTION
ALVEOLITIS ALLERGIC
My G.P.s kept me on Plavix for 5 years and now I have developed Alveolitis along with the extreme fatique and every other side effect that started shortly after taking this drug All I had 5 years ago was A small T.I.A which lasted a day. Each time I went to the G.P. practice I was told I had depression and given more tablets. I argued that I was not depressed just extremely weak, breathless and fatigued. Now I have asthma , anemia plus osteoporosis and all the other side effect from Plavix. Is there a law practice I can go to for help. I don't have much money as I'm a widow and I'm scared of enormous cost. 2015-01-26 05:44:59

CONCERN
OXYGEN CONSUMPTION INCREASED
I'm a 67-year old man with Type-2 diabetes and a history of coronary artery disease and two previous stents, with a third (all in the same artery) this past summer. No history of MI or ischemic issues. After being on Plavix for 4 months following the recent stent placement, the following happened to me within two weeks: 1. A retinal tear resulted in my eyeball being filled with blood, requiring eye surgery. 2. I was hospitalized with Arterial Flutter, and given an angioplasty, which was negative 3. I experienced a 20-second petit mal seizure (only time in my life). I believe these were caused by the Plavix and have discontinued it and fired my cardiologist, now working with a Functional Medicine Specialist who told me that other than the eye problem, the Plavix plus aspirin combination was severely restricting the amount of oxygen that was able to get into my hemoglobin, putting me at increased risk of kidney failure and death. My conclusion is that "corporate medicine" is controlled by pharmaceutical companies whose only interest is profit, and patient wellness is less important that maintaining a revenue stream from the patient. Medical ethics appear to have vanished. The well-meaning physicians have been brainwashed. This IS going to backfire on the pharma-medical industry as more patients become aware of the health risks of being over-medicated by a corrupt system. 2016-11-19 15:31:38

ANKLE FRACTURE
I suffered a severe right ankle sprain in 2012 while running a 5k. I was taking clopidrel and aspirin at that time following a placement of a stent. I discontinued the clopidrel in 2013. I suffered a vertebral fracture in June, 2016 after moving furniture requiring kyphoplasty. My recovery program was walking 1/2 hour daily. I've had residual right ankle pain that subsided after a couple blocks of walking. In March of 2017, I received another stent and resumed taking clopidrel and aspirin. A few weeks later, my ankle pain worsened until I was unable to walk without difficulty. Can ankle sprain or micro fracture be a side effect of taking clopidrel with or without aspirin? 2017-06-08 11:21:47

TINNITUS
I have had mild Tinnitus for several years. I had a stent put in my coronary artery in April of 2017 and the Tinnitus has been so bad now that I can hardly sleep. It started getting worse about one week after taking Plavix and has continued getting worse. I am going to stop using it. I have had 15 stents put in and triple bypass and was never on Plavix for more than one month. My doctor wants me on it for a year, but then what happens after a year??? I am convinced that taking Plavix has worsened my Tinnitus to the point of it becoming almost unbearable. 2017-06-19 01:12:11
