About this FactMed analysis covering adverse side effect reports of VALGANCICLOVIR patients who developed ADRENALITIS.

FactMed provides MD-approved analysis to help both patients, researchers, and physicians accurately assess the risk profile for more than 20,000 different pharmaceutical products. The below report offers compiled information from Food & Drug Administration and FactMed user submissions. Between January 2004 and October 2012, 6 individuals taking VALGANCICLOVIR reported ADRENALITIS to the FDA. A total of 961 VALGANCICLOVIR drug adverse event reaction reports were made with the FDA during this time period. Often the FDA only receives reports of the most critical and severe cases; these numbers may therefore underrepresent the complication rate of the medication.

FDA Research Report

Introduction This page is designed to help you determine the relationship, if any, between VALGANCICLOVIR and ADRENALITIS. In doing so, we compare VALGANCICLOVIR with other drugs that cause ADRENALITIS, to help you evaluate whether or not VALGANCICLOVIR causes ADRENALITIS. Likewise, this page shows the most highly-reported side effects of VALGANCICLOVIR, so you can see if ADRENALITIS ranks among VALGANCICLOVIR's most well-known side effects.

CONCERN
ALOPECIA
I am a 50yo male; Blonde/blue eyes. Had very thick hair (Hair stylist always had to thin it out) and had little grey hair. I have been on IV of Ganciclovir (Cytovene) for 4 days as an Inpatient (reduced vision 20/100 & 20/200 with cloudy haze); now discharged I have been on Valganciclovir (Valcyte) 450mg; 2 tabs, 2x a day for a month until I see a Retinal specialist in a week. My partner noticed some hair on my pillow and person and asked my physicians about it... none of them can not believe that my hair is falling out. I have noticed much more hair loss and changing texture plus turning grey where I still have hair. I'm waiting with baited breath to hear what the Specialist has to say in a week. How long will this continue? Will it grow back? and with the same texture as before? I imagine the grey is here to stay ;-) 2015-07-08 20:55:29
